Instituto Tomie Ohtake is a reference for anyone who thinks about art and culture in São Paulo. Inaugurated in 2001 as a non-profit organization, the institute has conquered its space and gained national and international recognition thanks to a dynamic program that promotes, researches, debates and divulges fundamental aspects of contemporary and modern art, architecture and design and the different cultural areas.
In the past few years, Instituto Tomie Ohtake consolidated its diversified program and even had, in a single year, more than 100 thousand people contemplated by the projects promoted by the Culture and Participation Center and more than 1 million visitor to its exhibitions.
Shows like Yayoi Kusama – Infinite Obsession and Frida Kahlo – connections between surrealist women in Mexico will, for a long time, hold a place in the collective imagination of Brazilians, while exhibitions such Mestizo Stories and Learning with Dorival Caymmi: Beach Civilization will still be deeply debated by researchers of Brazilian art. Some highlights are the accessibility projects, such as Mornings of Stories, a pioneer initiative marked by its excellence, and the courses promoted by the Entropic School and the Space for Seeing, for example, keep a lively body of students and teachers in daily interaction. Not to mention the legacy Tomie Ohtake left us, a fundamental artist I Brazilian art history, whose work is researched and promoted at the Instituto, which honorably carries her name.
Complete, complex and integrated with the city’s life, Instituto Tomie Ohtake offers opportunities for education and exchanges between different audiences, with equally varying trajectories and interests.
In 2017, the year the Instituto commemorates its 15th anniversary of intense work, we launch the Instituto Tomie Ohtake Membership Program, or Friends of the Instituto Tomie Ohtake, which aims at deepening the bond we have with our audiences, creating opportunities for everyone to come closer to the day-to-day reality of this institution, collaborating with the expansion of our programs and, more, receiving the benefits that will make the experience of visiting this cultural center even more intense.
As well as our entire program, this opportunity hopes to gather all different types of people. Anyone can participate. We created different categories so that everyone can find the one that is more suitable for their interests. Becoming a member is a way of promoting and divulging culture and, at the same time, deepening your relationship with the arts.
